Children's health at events

Keeping young children entertained at adult events can be tricky, but there are a few tricks you can use if you plan ahead to ensure special events get as few distractions as possible.

The sorts of events where children can get bored quickly if they don't have other children to play with are anniversary meals, birthday celebrations where friends and family are invited along, such as a 50th or 60th birthday, or a wedding. Entertainers such as ventriloquists, magicians, balloon artists or puppeteers could be the ideal solution, with a puppet show, magic show or balloon making demonstration.

Artists who give something for kids to take away at the end of the event always go down well!

Social events are a great way to relax and have fun. Although if you are at an event there are many health issues which you may not have thought about.

If your child suffers from an allergy and eats something whilst they are having fun this can cause serious problems. Make sure that when your children eat you are watching what they eat and that they do not run around whilst eating which can cause choking.

If you are at a function the chances are you will be exposed to people who have many different illnesses, some of which are contagious. If you know that you will be in contact with illnesses then make sure that you give your children plenty of vitamin C to keep them healthy. Tomatoes are a good source of vitamins and help to keep the doctor away.

Children sometimes get over excited at social events and get carried away as do adults from time to do time. Every child has fallen over and hurt themselves at some point. If your child calls over and hurts themselves make sure that you clean it thoroughly, put savlon or antibacterial cream on the cut and then place a plaster over it. Not only will your child feel much better when the problem is fixed but you can put your mind at ease knowing that the cut will not get infected.
