Look after your health by keeping things clean

Trying to use cleaning products while keeping them away from toddlers who have just learnt to walk can be a bit tricky. Exploring their surrounding space and handling unusual objects is usually the order of the day for youngsters. Cleaning while someone else is around to take care of the kids is not a luxury that many parents can benefit from, so finding another solution is key. Firstly ensure that cleaning items are kept well away from areas that your child can reach. Kitchen counters and shelves are a good option, however, you should take care that the items cannot be knocked off or slip from their safe position. It is all too easy to look away for a moment and return only to find that your baby has a bottle of bleach in one hand and a feather duster in the other. A lack of sleep and a million and one errands to complete can mean even the best of us are occasionally off the ball. It's best not to keep products in low cupboards - the majority of people normally place cleaning fluids in the space under the sink but this is just asking for toddler trouble as many of you will know already. However, if you don't have any other suitable space, fit child locks onto the cupboard door to prevent them getting hold of any dangerous or nasty chemicals.

If you do not keep things clean and hygienic then you may find that you are exposing yourself and your children to many different problems which you may not have realised. If you do not sanitise your hands at all times you may be passing harmful germs back to one another. If you want to keep yourself and your children illness free it is essential to be incredibly clean.

Germs can be spread not only by dirty work surfaces but also if you have come into contact with someone who has an illness or hasn't cleaned themselves property. If this is the case then you may find that you are spreading illness around your family. This can be avoided by not coming into contact with people you know are ill. Some illnesses and problems are spread from saliva or are air born. This means that if someone is sneezing and you are near them you may find yourself ill in no time.

If you are looking to avoid these illnesses make sure that you have a good diet. Your diet should contain a healthy amount of fruit, vegetables and protein. When you have eaten these items then you may find that your immune system is stronger which will protect you from certain illnesses. However there are certain things which you cannot avoid such as chicken pox. Children are affected by this at an early age. Some doctors claim that they should be exposed to this, as once you have had it then you will not get it again. There are many easy treatments for this and it can be got rid of if you look after the problem yourself.

If your child develops any rashes and you are unsure of what they are then you should visit a doctor. If your child has been exposed to an unclean area or has touched something they are allergic to,  rashes can flair up. As long as you consult a medical professional these problems can be sorted out before they get any worse.

Even though your child or children are the most important people in your life remember that your health is equally as important. Do not neglect your own health. If you start to feel under the weather try and take some time out from your busy lifestyle to ensure that you are getting enough rest and recharge your batteries so that your immune system can recover. Remember if you are unwell you will be not be able to look after your children to your full potential, which is why you should take care of yourself!
