Meeting other parents

Feelings of isolation are common among stay-at-home parents who spend all day with children. This means it's vital to try and take some time out of your daily routine to meet with other mums and dads. There are plenty of networking sessions for parents dotted up and down the country who are after some pleasant adult coversation with like minded individuals. As all of the participants of the groups are parents, bringing the kids along is more than acceptable and often a prerequisite anyway. Feel free to drop in and out of the sessions or if you are after some routine visit the groups every week; it's up to you. You'll get the chance to discuss the ins and out of parenting with others and perhaps make life-long friends along the way. If you can steal yourself away from the kids and find a babysitter for a few hours, make evening or lunch plans to meet your new friends and grab some much-needed adult time. Don't feel guilty for wanting to be away from the children! It's a part of every parent's life and sometimes we just can't hack another five minutes without someone tall to talk to. Go ahead and treat yourself to some personal space.
